In this episode of Business Matters, presented by Valley First, a division of First West Credit Union, host Rob Cupello is joined by Kristen Anderson, co-owner of Lola Lash Bar, a franchise with 4 locations in Calgary and, as of December 2021, a brand new location on Clement Ave. right here in Kelowna!
“[Kelowna is] such a growing city…and we do think there’s more growth opportunity for us as a small business in the Okanagan,” says Kristen.
Lola Lash Bar offers a range of specialized services including eyelash extensions, eyebrow waxing/threading, microblading, tints and more.
Originally from California with a background in fashion, Kristen didn’t necessarily expect to end up braving cold Calgary winters and co-owning a business in the aesthetics industry, but she’s proud of what she’s been able to build since she joined the Lola Lash Bar team. And now that the new Kelowna location is up and running, there are lots of opportunities for you to join the team too!
“As an employer, we’re so willing to train from the ground up,” Kristen says. If you have an interest in learning a new skill in a women-owned and operated workplace, she encourages you to apply by emailing your resume to [email protected].
And if you’re looking to get your brows or lashes done, definitely consider booking an appointment online to visit Lola Lash Bar at #5, 740 Clement Ave.
Watch the full episode below to learn more about how Kristen got to where she is today, how she balances raising a young child with owning a business in a rapidly evolving industry, and what kind of brow and lash styles are on trend today.
