Economic development in Kamloops was this week’s topic on Business Matters, sponsored by Valley First, a division of First West Credit Union. Nicole Bruce, Economic Development Manager at Venture Kamloops and Rob Cupello, Chief Strategy Officer at NowMedia, discussed the resources made available by Venture Kamloops to those in every stage of business development.
Venture Kamloops is an economic development arm for the City of Kamloops, devoted to the attraction, retention, and expansion of business in Kamloops. “It’s a broad mandate and many activities fall within that,” Nicole notes. They offer services to businesses in any sector and at any stage, be it starting up, accelerating, transitioning, or even succession planning for those thinking of an exit.
“There is no wrong reason to come and see us,” says Nicole, “A lot of people have described Venture Kamloops as the top of the funnel. If you’re in business, thinking of business, exiting a business, and everything in between,” you can benefit from the vast resources available at Venture Kamloops.
With a strategic focus on areas where Kamloops has a competitive advantage and those that will make the most significant economic impact, Venture Kamloops has lately turned its attention to attracting real estate developers for increased housing, and transportation and warehousing centers.
“If you’re thinking of starting a business in Kamloops, most certainly this is a great opportunity to get a lot of support and awareness about your business,” Nicole highlights. Watch the video below for more information.
