In this episode of Business Matters, presented by Valley First, a division of First West Credit Union, host Rob Cupello is joined by Trevor Moss from Central Okanagan Food Bank (COFB) to discuss the misconceptions of who they serve, their funding, services and the Bake the World a Better Place pie fundraiser.
Most people believe COFB only helps homeless people, but there has been an influx of seniors, kids and families seeking their services for a number of reasons. As a non-profit, COFB isn’t funded by the government and relies on sponsors, donations and fundraisers, such as Bake the World a Better Place which will help fund their Thanksgiving dinner.
It features 20 renowned bakers and chefs from the Okanagan and their specialty pies such as Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Pie, Apple Cheesecake Crumble Pie, Pulled Pork and Sweet Potato Pie and more.
“These are truly unique pies, you can’t go buy them in Costco… these are some of the best pies I’ve ever tasted,” says Moss.
